And then a month after that release, I bought my first Intel Mac computer, a 2009 white polycarbonate MacBook (one of the last models using the 2006 design that came equipped with a nice NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor), and since Final Cut Pro X could run on that, I decided to try it out and I was pretty impressed! It gave me a LOT more editing power than iMovie, and it was easier to use and a lot more responsive than Final Cut Express, and I was especially a big fan of the background rendering, something I found useful in the older iMovie versions and a few other video-editing programs like Pinnacle Studio and Pinnacle Liquid Edition for Windows. Now, when Final Cut Pro X came out, I was still using an eMac G4 desktop as my computer, and since FCP X was Intel-only, I could not run it, but I was fine with iMovie HD.
FINAL CUT PRO 7 PORTUGUES UPGRADE
It was a lot like when iMovie underwent a similar rewrite and redesign three years before in 2007, to make the program easier to use and upgrade its' coding, and it met with similar reception and also evolved to become a much better consumer video editor (and it still is today.)

But over time, most of those missing features were added back in with several updates and such, in some cases doing them way better than FCP 7, like the multicam editor!

Starting in 2003, Apple also came out with a somewhat scaled-down version of FCP called "Final Cut Express," that was noticeably less expensive (around $200-300) and retained many of the features of the Pro version, being ideal for video hobbyists and budding editors that wanted to go beyond what iMovie had to offer.ĭespite still being very popular, by early 2011 it was getting rather dated, what with still being based on pre-Mac OS X coding (the first version in 1999 was designed for use on Mac OS 8!) and still being 32-bit only, along with a few other nitpicks like that darn render thing (you apply even a slight effect to your footage in the timeline, you can't even play it back until you render the footage, and you have to wait until rendering is complete to continue!) Plus, it could be somewhat difficult to master at first, even budding video hobbyists (so much that Final Cut Pro used to come with four user manual volumes in addition to the "Getting Started" manual!) So that year, Apple pulled one of their infamous controversial moves by coming out with a completely new version of Final Cut Pro, branded as FCP X.Īnd there was such a huge outcry from video editors everywhere! The program's GUI was drastically redesigned with a more iMovie-esque interface and quite a few missing features from the old version (Final Cut Pro 7), such as XLM support, multicam editing, Red Raw support, DVD chapter marker creations and a few more.

This was also when digital video was starting to get popular, with MiniDV camcorders coming down in proces and making it easy to hook up to a computer via FireWire to import and edit your videos (by 2001, all Macs on the market would come with at least one FireWire port!) Over the years, it had more enhancements and features added, and eventually by 2005 it was now bundled in a software suite called Final Cut Studio.įor $1,300 you got Final Cut Pro, Compressor (for encoding to different video formats), LiveType (for making fancy animated titles and such), Motion (for creating elaborate digital special effects), Soundtrack Pro (for greater control over audio editing and for making loop-based musical soundtracks with) and DVD Studio Pro (to author DVDs and later Blu-Rays with).

It even won an Emmy award in 2002!īy 2000 or 2001, if anyone who was into Macs wanted to edit professional high-quality videos at home, all they needed to do was buy a PowerMac G3 (Blue and White) or G4 tower or even a PowerBook G3 (Pismo) or G4 (Titanium) laptop and Final Cut Pro to load on it. And it was a pretty difficult launch! The original Final Cut Pro first came out in 1999 as Apple's first professional-level video editing software, and it quickly went on to become very popular with video hobbyists and professional videographers alike.
